Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna Movie Review
When the most awaited movie of the year, with a star cast as stellar as it gets, hit the theatres, expectations are naturally high. Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna partly lives up to the expectations. But watching the 3-plus hour movie, filled with emotional, tear-jerking moments from the first reel to its conclusion, is a tad tiresome.
Preity Zinta as Rhea Saran KANK is a departure from Karan’s previous works in the sense that the film deals with a theme that is relatively bold in Indian context. The movie simply says that it is better to walk away from a marriage if it is not working.
This latest Karan Johar offering focuses on two different families who come together due to life’s circumstances.
Abhishek Bachchan plays Rishi Talwar Dev Saran (Shah Rukh Khan) is married to Rhea (Preity Zinta). They have a volatile relationship. Dev strongly resents his wife’s career minded attitude and this makes him bitter.
Then we have the other couple - Maya (Rani Mukherji) and Rishi Talwar (Abhishek). Their relationship is plagued with doubts about their love for each other. This causes them to become alienated from one another.
Rani Mukherjee plays Maya Talwar But one day, Dev and Maya come across each other and this sparks of a series of emotions affecting everyone all round.
The first half of the film is composed of lighter moments provided by veteran star Amitabh Bachchan. But it is the second half of the movie that really hits you hard as we witness the collapse of couples’ relationships.
Shah Rukh Khan Kabhi Alivda Na Kehna is full of well directed sequences which will remain etched in your mind long after the movie has finished. It moves you deeply and that is a sign of a well crafted product by the master storyteller- Karan Johar.
Dev meeta Maya Karan’s forte has always been the execution of a film’s climax. Once again he excels in the final reel as he brings out another twist just when we thought the couples have decided to go their separate ways. To date this is Karan’s finest work without a doubt both in the direction and technical departments.
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna To cut to the chase, KANK is not a path-breaking film. It has a stellar cast, good music, good background score and some good performances. But the biggest flaw is the overblown sentimentality, the emotional outpouring which repeatedly fills the movie’s ever-stretching, never-ending 3.5-hour story that lives up to the film’s title.
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna On the whole, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna is a film that will touch your heart the Karan Johar style. It has all the making of a mega box office hit.

Well done Rani, Well done Preety n Well done Abhi!
never say alvida! say phir milenge
Question : Can I be so insensitive when my family wants to stay with me, I have a good kid and a loving beutiful, career oriented (and sole bread earner for family) wife but I love one girl (have had s**ual relation out of marriage) and want to marry her (after 8+ years of my marriage). NO LOGIC.
Question : My husband loves me despite the fact that I can not be pregnant, but I don't care. I want to break a marriage and want to get involved in a person who has a kid. AGAIN NO LOGIC.
I think the movie should be looked from Preity and Abhisheks perspective. They are cheated by these 2. They have wasted their time with these 2 selfish people and now they are lonely or look forward to get married. I surely cant digest the logic.
Overall a bad film on a very serious subject. dont know if others agree?
But I strongly believe, this is not intended for the Indian Community. Aslo Indian Movie will have lot of Impact on the People. In this scenario these kind of movies some times will have a direct impact on the relationships of the Indian Traditional Life.
Getting a Partner in India is not a matter of CHOICE, but a CHANCE. This is a debatable Issue.
But DEFINITELY this is an ILLOGICAL MOVIE which is not suitable for INDIA.
