Cash Movie Review Stylish cinematography, slick editing and classy stunts cannot make a film. And that is all Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Cash’ has got.
The promos were exciting and the music and songs (esp the title song) had become the rage of the season! In short, there were a lot of expectations riding on Cash. But unfortunately, Cash disappoints and fails to meet up the expectations. The reason? Poor script and weak direction by Anubhav Sinha. The story of the movie: The movie is set in Cape Town, South Africa. Karan (Ajay Devgan) is an ace con artist married to Shanaya (Shamita Shetty) who was the Head of Security. Shanaya had no idea about Karan’s illegal activities. Karan then hires top-notch robbers Esha Deol (Puja), Lucky (Ritesh Deshmukh) and Danny (Zayed Khan) in order to steal 3 highly precious, each of 200 carats! But Angad (Suneil Shetty) an Underworld Don was also after it and so was Shanaya who wanted to protect the diamonds and sent it back to India. What will happen next?
Cash begins on an interesting note and this interest continues for a while. But as the story goes forward and each of the characters is introduced, the interest level comes down. What results is confusion. And the culprit is Director Anubhav Sinha. He fails to give a proper and just direction to the movie. He messes up with the complicated story and what results is as I said earlier, confusion!
However, the well-written story saves the movie! The story, though complicated, as good amount of interesting twists and turns which succeeds in keeping alive the interest of the viewers in the second half.
Genetically the lab wanted to create Cash as a clone of Dus. Unfortunately the experiment went astray and we, the audience could only watch a version, mutated beyond recognition. It started with a flashback, promised a few diamond heists, lapsed into sporadic animations, sprouted some romance and then burst into absolute mayhem in the end. It is like attending the cremation of a headless entertainer wandering aimlessly downhill.
At the end of the day, ‘Cash’ turns out to be a senseless action thriller. It is like a rollercoaster heading nowhere. Music by Vishal-Shekhar may hold some interest, but a lack of engaging script (Yash-Vinay) cannot be overlooked.
Better think twice before squandering your cash on this flick.
