Koi Aap Sa This is the story of three friends – Rohan (Aftab Shivdasani), Simran, (Natassha) and Priti (Dipannita Sharma). They have as much fun fighting as they have making up. Their lives are full of fun, frolic and in Rohan’s case – football. Rohan is basically a fun loving and sporty guy. He doesn’t have a worry in the world! However, during the course of the movie, other sides to his character are revealed. Watching Koi Aap Sa is like watching a big screen version of the soppy and pretentiously dramatic Ektaa Kapoor soap operas that we see on television. Director Partho Mitra makes a forgettable debut with this movie. But for a few stray portions in the film, Koi Aap Sa is a boring, emotionally fluffy movie. It was intended to stir your emotions. But it only leaves you drowsy. Read More (5 Comments) |

Siskiyaan Siskiyaan is not your run of the mill Hindi film. It’s a film that delves deep into human emotions and instincts. Starring Neha Dhupia, Sachin Khedekar and Sonu Sood, the film is set in post riots Gujarat. It is a dark and sombre movie set in a single night around three characters.Siskiyaan director Ashwini Chaudhary has chosen an offbeat subject. His cinematic execution is deft at times, but a few good assorted sequences don’t make a gripping movie. One strong point is Neha Dhupia, who shows remarkable growth as an actress. The way she stares in the mirrors, the desensitized, blown-out expressions on her face and her vitriolic outburst towards the end – all lend credibility to her character Ayesha, a victim seeking revenge and justice. In short, Siskiyaan is based on a serious story that may not appeal to everyone. Read More (0 Comments) |

James Movie Review James is the story of how a courageous man single-handedly takes on the people controlling the political power in the city of Mumbai.‘James’ stars this dashing newcomer in the lead role. He has become the cynosure of the eyes of Ram Gopal Varma . So impressed is Ramu with Ahlawat that he is casting him in the role of Amitabh Bachchan in the remake of Sholay. Action, not though acting, is Mohit’s forte. The guy fights really well and scores brownie points in action sequences. But his dialogue delivery and his facial expressions (or the lack of them) leave too much to be desired. On the whole, ‘James’ is a weak fare that will possibly appeal only to those interested in action without any substantial storyline. The less that is spoken about the acting of Mohit and Nisha, the better. By the time it ends you are dying to bid farewell to James! Read More (9 Comments) |

Salaam Namaste Salaam Namaste is a movie reflecting the different highs, lows trials and tribulations of a live-in relationship. Preity Zinta as Amber (pronounced ‘humburrrrrrr’ by her thickly sound-Indian accented boss) is a radio jockey while the debonair Saif Ali khan is a gourmet chef who hates being called by his real name Nikhil Arora’ n responds to the shorter ‘Nick’. Both look really ravishing n Preity’s lost oodles of weight! As expected, the movie has a very urban, young and happening look and is set in Melbourne, Australia replete with beaches, swimming costumes and a bevy of phirang , gori babes ready to shed off their clothes without a moment’s notice! All in all, a movie that tries to explore the relatively new concept of live-in relationships, unconventional professions like RJs n chefs…….but still ends up reminding us of the age-old pre-marital sex and subsequent unwanted pregnancy of movies of yore….so has Hindi cinema really taken a step forward with this film?)
