The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index, Sensex touched its highest level at 13,002.86 in early trade on back of heavy buying led by FIIs and mutual funds on Monday.


The markets showed smart recovery and strength as compared to its Asian peers. At 1244 hours IST, the Sensex was up 48 points at 13,002.82 level, and the Nifty up 8.20 points or 0.22 per cent at 3747.55.


About 1108 shares have advanced, 754 shares declined, and 55 shares are unchanged.

the BSE sensex is based on the prices of a few shares listed at Mumbai stock exchange.
If those shares rise in value, the sensex rises. rest all shares may be trading low. It does not matter.
