1. Search first, post later!
Please search before you start a new thread. As our site already has thousands of threads, you might find that a similar topic is already under discussion in another thread. You can just build off that thread instead of starting a whole new conversation.
2. Short is sweet but detailed ones are also welcome
Keep all your messages a bikini message. Short enough to elicit interest but long enough to cover the essentials. What makes our community special is the conversation and dialogue, not lengthy one-sided recitals.
But in case of informative material, do give the deatils and the complete coverage of the material / topic being discussed...
3. Make it interesting!!
Focus on a few key ideas in your message and take the time to write a message that flows logically and is easy to read. Full-stops, commas, colons etc play an important role in forming 'meaningful' sentences. If it is hard to read, you can almost be certain that members will skip your message.
4. Is this an apt title?!
Always include a relevant subject title for your message/thread. That way, users can quickly scan the subject line and choose whether to read it or not. Post your message in the right sub-forum so that it gets noticed.
5. You are what you write!
Be aware that you are solely judged by what you write. Friendliness, courtesy, spelling and grammar actually do count. Constructive criticisms and disagreements are necessary parts of a healthy debate, but do it gracefully without offending anyone. Its polite to have 1X1 conversations through private messages than in the public forum. Finally, avoid shortening your words into cryptic characters that other members might not be familiar with.
6. Provide a context, give a meaning!
When quoting another person, edit out whatever isn't directly applicable to your reply. Take the time to edit any quotations down to the minimum necessary to provide context for your reply.
7. I FEEL INSULTED!
Don’t use capital letters. In the online world, it is considered as yelling.But to emphasize a word or comment u may CAPITALISE a few words....
