James Movie Review

Mohit Ahlawat
Mohit Ahlawat
James Cast -
Language:HINDI
Director:Rohit Jugraj
Producer:Ram Gopal Varma, Parag Sanghavi
Cast: Mohit Ahlawat, Nisha Kothari, Zakir Hussain
Music: Nitin Raikwar, Bapi Tutul, Prasanna Shekhar
Lyrics: Nitin Raikwar, Sandeep Nath

James is the story of how a courageous man single-handedly takes on the people controlling the political power in the city of Mumbai. The movie, directed by newcomer Rohit Jugraj, has nothing fresh except its hero Mohit Ahlawat and heroine Nisha Kothari. Mohit chips in action and brooding intensity. Nisha makes sure the audiences are titillated to good degrees.

‘James’ stars this dashing newcomer in the lead role. He has become the cynosure of the eyes of Ram Gopal Varma . So impressed is Ramu with Ahlawat that he is casting him in the role of Amitabh Bachchan in the remake of Sholay .

The story of James is like this - A politician who is crooked has a brother who is wicked, who picks up girls and raeps them and generally both create mayhem. Then walks in James(Mohit) a guy from Goa, who believes in Izzat and standing upto crime and injustice. And then the usual story, James crosses path of the wicked younger bro over an upcoming model (nisha kothari). The movie then turns into a revenge cum chase movie - with lots of blood and gore.

Nisha is a vivacious city girl in the film with a sense of pride to match. Ramu was so impressed by this Delhi girl in ‘James’ that he casted her in a role in Sarkar.

However, this movie belongs to only one person-Mohit Ahluwat. He’s done,by far,the most impressive debut, that I can ever imagine. His action scenes are amazing. Action, not though acting, is Mohit’s forte. The guy fights really well and scores brownie points in action sequences. But his dialogue delivery and his facial expressions (or the lack of them) leave too much to be desired.

Coming back to the story, Mumbai (and other cities) really needs a James to make real progress and improve the lives of everyone in Mumbai. For too long, Mumbai citizens have tolerated crap from politicians and ministers. Its about time someone stands up for injustice done to others exactly the same way in which James has done in this film.

On the whole, ‘James’ is a weak fare that will possibly appeal only to those interested in action without any substantial storyline. The less that is spoken about the acting of Mohit and Nisha, the better. By the time it ends you are dying to bid farewell to James!
