Kyon Ki Movie Review Kyon Ki Salman and Kareena StarringSalman Khan .... Anand Kareena Kapoor .... Dr. Tanvi Director : Priyadarshan Lyricist : Sameer Musician : Himesh Reshammia Kyon Ki is a tale of two relationships, three lovers and a plethora of emotions. It is the Hindi adaptation of Priyadarshan’s Malayalam movie Thalavattam that starred Mohanlal. The film begins in a hospital where Kareena Kapoor is working as a psychiatrist. The hosiptal is running under the supervision of her father [Om Puri]. She is an energetic and optimistic doctor whose sole aim is to serve her patient. She does not demand anything in return. She is engaged to Sunil Shetty, who is from America and is also a Doctor. Actual drama takes place when a mental patient [Salman Khan] is admitted there. Salman has some strange habits like he can’t tolerate the genre called Insecta! Anand (Salman Khan) lost his mental balance after the tragic death of his girlfriend. He is admitted into a mental hospital where patients are treated with aggression and force. This style of treatment has the approval of the hospital’s owner Dr. Khurana (Om Puri), who believes that mentally unstable patients should be treated likewise. Khurana’s daughter, Dr. Tanvi (Kareena Kapoor), too, has little sympathy for Anand. Jackie Shroff is also working there. He is very protective about Salman. That’s so because Salman’s father was the person who gave him the money to complete his medicinal career. Initially, Kareena treats Salman as just another patient. But eventually She realises this one is special in more way than one! She reads Salman's diary that reveals the past of Salman. The story in the diary goes something like this.... Rimi Sen is working in a church as a nun far away in the lands of Romania. She believes in the motto of Humanity. Her life changes when she meets Salamn. She does not care damn about him [initially]..But its Bollywood you Know..So she has to fall in love with him! But Destiny has something in store for both of them ...She dies accidently [in a swimming pool -that too in wedding night]due to a mistake on Salman’s part! Kyunki is a showcase for Salman to exhibit his talent. The guy looks dashing and emotes with utmost sincerity. He’s handled the emotional moments with maturity. while Kareena Kapoor has an edge thanks to her lovable characterisation. She is natural. Rimi looks nice, but comes across more as a mannequin. As far as acting is concerned, she’s yet to learn the skill. Jackie impresses. Om Puri’s characterisation is half-baked. Manoj Joshi is so so! In short, there is hardly anything in Kyon Ki that catches your fancy. The movie is a slow and brooding romantic tragedy that leaves you depressed in the end. On the whole, Kyunki is too weak a film to leave any impression whatsoever. |
