Shaadi Se Pehle is a light comedy. The film starts off well, where I was thinking the Priyadarsan Genre is picking up and others are improving. With the nice dialogues from Sanjay Chel, the film starts well and puts you in the mood. However, when we expect the story to pick up the momentum, it start dragging a bit. But occasional interventions of witty dialogues help improve the situation.
After a string of comedy hit movies last year, this year might see an exodus of imitations. Some work, some dont. After the delectable Malamaal Weekly, SSP comes as a big big dissapointment. The movie trudges along at its own pace, and sometimes is so slow that you start wishing you had the remote in your hand, to jab the skip button.
The characters are caricatures, with no genuineness anywhere. You get the feeling that there is no spontainity. Everyone is putting one big show.

Shaadi Se Pehle
After Mallikas entry the movie garners some zip, but like a candle being blown out by a gust of wind, it soon dissapears. And Akshaye khannas clothes have to be seen to be believed. Govinda would have done much better.
The main problem with the film is that is always ’trying too hard’ to make you laugh. And it does succeed... i think exactly 10 times... with Boman Irani’s two appearances accounting for 20% of the laughs.
The film begins (who is responsible for Akshaye Khanna’s look in the film - if they thought it adds to the comedy they were sadly wrong) with Akshaye speaking into camera sitting behind some romantic DVDs and novels (are ’Traffic’ and ’End of Days’ romantic movies?). It appears that he is about to break up his engagement to Ayesha Takia (horrendous loud costumes - she should fire her designer for this film - but then they should fire everyone associated with this film)

Shaadi Se Pehle
It turns out that he is under the mistaken assumption that he is suffering from cancer and has a year to live. So he decides to make Ayesha break off from him by acting like brash, rude, womanizing drunk.
SSP suffers from a hackneyed script and mediocre dialogues. Satish Kaushik has not managed to pull it off this time. The music is allright, but to lift this non starter, it should have been exceptional.
Yeh movie dehkne se pehle, pop an aspirin. And for good measure, have one later too. To sum it up, ‘Shaadi Se Pehle’ is just a timepass entertainer.
