Mistress of Spices Movie ReviewStarcast: - Aishwarya Rai.... Tilo Dylan McDermott .... Doug Ayesha Dharker .... Hameeda Nitin Chandra Ganatra
.... Haroun Anupam Kher .... Geeta’s Grandfather ZOHRA SEHGAL - guest appearance and many more
Story In Nutshell: - Based on the novel penned by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, the movie has something new to give to you. Aish is the mistress of Spices who cure Other people’s heart and illnesses with the help of SPICES, but she can’t use the spice for herself. She has the power to see into the future of other people....now the twist comes in when she is tempted to use the spices for herself, when (Dylan McDermott ) Doug comes in her life. But will she disobey the RULE and use the spices for herself is the question.....watch out to find that! Mistress of Spices Performance: - Aish-- She is stunning and represents a fragile and delicate INDIAN BEAUTY with the will power to match that of the LIONESS. She’s not cold but why don’t we try to understand, to be like that was the demand of the role. Director decides as how the heroin should be and its not the job of the actress to decide her part. We should be happy that an Indian actress is doing so well in INTERNATIONAL CINEMA. lets not critise her for being cold and ’’no on-screen chemistry’’ with her male counterparts. No other actress could have done justice to the role, she is too good.
Dylan McDermott He’s amazing as well, though there wasn’t much for him but even then he creates MAGIC when he’s there... Anyway the directror could have got more of him and wopuld have given a new life to the movie. But no regrets as the movie is all about the mistress of spices and not the mister of spices.............
The Cinematographer Santosh Sivan simply creates MAGIC and another world for the audience. He’s SUPERB. What else to say....the movies is hot, and lets praise Aish for taking such step to be part of not so hot movie and be experimental in her approach...
Mistress of Spices It may be difficult to understand the film. The newspaper reviewers have totally missed it -- Outlook rates the movie as avoidable and The Hindu too follows in something of that tone. It seems the journalists did not understand the story or the presentation. In any case, the movies that they discredit go on to become hits -- remember Amitabh Bachchan’s movies and how they were torn apart by stupid journalists?
I would recommend this movie, but go with an open mind and with open eyes and ears. It is a pleasure to see such a uniquely different and well enacted movie!
