Corporate Bollywood Movie Review

Madhur Bhandarkar. The name is synonymous with films with substance. The name also corresponds with films that rebel against the set-patterns, rules, norms and formulas of Bollywood masala flicks. His latest venture, CORPORATE is no exception!
Corporate is about the vicious circle of ambition in the private sector, and how human emotions and life have no significance in it but the story, situations and the treatment of the narrative cannot be compared to any Bollywood flick witnessed so far. CORPORATE is nonconforming and appeals tremendously.
Corporate is based on the cola war that raged between two soft drink giants in the county around two years back. The plot revolves around the way in which both soft drink companies use NGOs, the media and politicians to their own advantage. There are many scenes which bear a striking resemblance to incidents that actually happened at that time.

Rajat Kapoor plays Vinay Sehgal
Rajat Kapoor plays Vinay Sehgal, Managing Director of Sehgal Group of Industries. Vinay leads a team of competent managers and executives.
Meet the handful of men and women, who hold in their hands the power to influence the lives of unsuspecting millions. Live their lives. Learn their lies. This film takes a deep insight in the mindset of these powerful people and attempts to find out what makes them tick. It explores the nexus between the corporate world and the political; and follows the trail of sex and corruption that hides behind a glittering and glassy exterior.

Raj Babbar plays Dharmesh Marwah
CORPORATE begins with a narration by Atul Kulkarni as the reels unfold, the viewer gradually slips into a world of deceit, treachery and betrayal. The narrative moves at a brisk pace, with the viewer being on the edge all the while. The transformation of Bipasha from middle class city girl to a working woman is amongst the most convincing aspects of the film.
Given the fact that it’s a serious film and has an undercurrent of tension all through, the goings-on tend to get slightly heavy towards the second half. If trimmed slightly, it should only prove advantageous.

Minissha Lamba as Megha Apte
CORPORATE, in the spirit of Madhur’s other movies, has some fresh things to say in this cliched Bollywood. The film has all the potential to carve a niche for itself.
Although ‘Corporate’ is a well intended movie that deals with a subject that hasn’t often been told in Hindi films, but the movie eventually talks about the same business tactics and manipulations that even a layman might be aware of. And in doing so, the film actually reeks a bit of cynicism.

Bipasha as Nishigandha
If only this cynicism and angst can be compromised with, ‘Corporate’ emerges as a good movie that ought to be seen once.
