Payal Rohatgi

Payal Rohatgi was born in Hyderabad, India. She was brought up in a middle class family and grew up in Ahmadabad in Gujarat. A computer engineer from L.D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad by profession. Payal Rohatgi won the title of Miss Tourism World in 2001, against candidates from 65 countries. She was also a finalist at the Femina Miss India contest in 2000. These successes encouraged Payal to enter the entertainment industry.
She started her career by modelling for popular brands like Amul, Nirma, and Nescafe. She gained attention after appearing in a television ad for Cadbury’s Temptations Chocolates. Around this time she also appeared in music videos by rock band Silk Route and Indipop artist Kay Kay.

Payal made her Bollywood debut in Harry Baweja’s Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai?, a Hindi remake of the Hollywood teen flick American Pie. However, she went unnoticed in the multi-starrer. She shot into the limelight by doing some small budget films.

In 2006, she signed her first A grade Bollywood film, 36 China Town, as one of the lead characters. The movie starred already established stars like Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, and Paresh Rawal. Even amongst all these stars she got noticed.

Later in that year, she appeared in the critically acclaimed Corporate where, ironically, she played the part of an item girl.

In 2007, she had her first release with Priyadarshan’s film Dhol which was produced by Percept Picture Company. She played a positive second lead character, paired opposite Arbaaz Khan.In 2008, she played a cameo opposite ranvir shorey in PNC film Ugly Aur pagli.

Raja Choudhary

Ex husband of famous television actress Shweta Tiwari, Raja Chaudhary played the main villain in the Bhojpuri film Saiyyan hamar Hindustani opposite his then wife Shweta, and the two even delivered a superlative performance in the popular dance reality show Nach Baliye 2. They later separated and Shweta filed a police complaint against him for harassment. Having earned the sobriquet of 'Nautanki Pati' for being accused of beating up his wife, Raja will get his confession room to reveal the 'truth'. Wonder what Shweta or the world will have to say about it . Or is this angelic face a devil in disguise? Will Raja prove to be the hated freak of the BB2 house?

Ketaki Dave

Ketki Dave is a Bollywood actress. She works in the popular tv series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Ketki joined the team when the show started in April 2000. She then took a break from work and returned in 2003. She worked for a few months and then had a major fall-out with her producer Ekta Kapoor and hence left the show.
She had a patch up with Ekta and returned to work for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi as Daksha in November 2006.

Ketki Dave became Popular with Ekta Kapoor’s Serial Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi as a Daksha Chachi. Her takiya kalam Arara has become Ketaki dave’s Identity.

Rakhi Vijan

Best known as Sweetie of Hum Paanch, Rakhi Vijan is one of the few female television actresses who took comedy to a new level with her shows, Dekh bhai dekh and Hum Paanch. In the middle of her steady acting career, she married her boyfriend Rajeev Tandon (actress Raveena Tandon's brother), but filed for a divorce soon. Now busy resurrecting her career, she has just signed Raj Kanwar's yet untitled film, which stars Rishi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Rekha, though sitcoms remain her first love. Rakhi will also be seen in Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns, Ganesh Acharya's yet untitled film starring Govinda, and was seen in Kumar Mangat's Money Hai Toh Honey Hai starring Govinda and Hansika Motwani. Rakhi has also launched her own production house and is looking forward to produce some shows for television.

Ashutosh Kaushik

The winner of MTV Roadies 5.0 Ashutosh Kaushik who made an epical journey from a dhaba to the tinsel town. Ashutosh made a enigmatic journey from Saharanpur in UP to Kuala Lumpur.

The 40-day MTV Roadies 5.0 journey taught him a lot, after being rejected in Delhi and Chandigarh, he was finally selected at Jaipur auditions. Ashutosh learnt a lot in the show be it physical fitness or speaking Hindi and English fluently.
 
The 27-year-old, who has won an expensive Hero Honda Karizma bike and Rs 2.3 lakh, unhesitatingly gives the credit of his win to his fellow contestant Sonel, by whom he was totally smitten.

Ashutosh has joined the Anupam Kher School of acting and is hopeful to make himself known in Bollywood.

Zulfi Syed

Zulfi Syed is an Indian model and a film actor. He was born in Bangalore.

He won the Gladrags Manhunt in 1997.This tall, good looking & charming supermodel made his debut in Bollywood with “Pyasa” opposite Yukta Mookhey.

He has done commercial ads for brands like Raymonds, Fiesta condoms, Trevi jeans, Warehouse, Levis etc. He also appeared in few music videos such as ‘Chahat Desh Se Anewale’, ‘Buleyaa’, ‘Dhuwa Dhuwa Ho Raha Hai Sama’ and ‘Tere Khayalon Mein’.

Debojit

Diploma holder in Civil Engineering Debojit Saha,(born in Silchar, Assam) is Indian-Bengali singer and was the winner of Zee TV’s reality series, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005.

He was placed in Ismail Darbar’s Yalgaar Ho Gharana and then started to gain public attention by going through the initial rounds by being chosen by the judges.
 
On February 24, 2006, he was announced the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 with the majority of votes from the North Eastern states of India.

Alina Wadiwalla

This 21-year-old wedding photographer is highly extroverted, motor mouth and known to for her devil-may-care attitude. Alina is sexy, single, unattached and shockingly straightforward. A romantic by nature, she believes in serial dating in a process to discover herself. Alina can be quite emotional and is rather impulsive most of the times. Ehsaan Qureshi

Ehsaan Qureshi is a popular Indian stand-up comedian. He was the 2005 runner-up of the The Great Indian Laughter Challenge on Star One.

Qureshi has been a stage performer for the last 20 years. Most of his jokes focus on political satire and social issues.
 
Lately he has been seen acting in a Bollywood movie, Bombay to Goa released in 2007, and the Bhujpuri film hanuman bhakt hawaldar released in 2007.

Shilpa Shetty on her debut as the host of a TV reality show

Shilpa Shetty's car has been in a mess and that's why she's late for the interview. No sweat. The actress, who is the host of “Bigg Boss 2”, has apologies to offer. "Sorry for the delay but my car met with an accident. The Bombay traffic surely sucks," she says, before we begin the interview.

Excerpts from the chat with Shilpa whose show goes on air on Colors channel on August 17…

How's the TV debut looking like?

I am quite tense and thoughtful about my debut as a television host, yes. It's really going to be something new for me. The reason I said yes to ‘Bigg Boss’ is because I'm familiar with the format. I can safely say that I've been there, done that. I think it would make it easier for me to empathise with the housemates since I'm going to be the only connection with them for almost 85 days that they're going to be in the house.

I'm going to try my best to make it easier for them. But I can vouch that it's not going to be easy. I'm really looking forward to watching ‘Bigg Boss 2’ because I was kind of hooked on to ‘Bigg Boss 1’.

How does it feel to be the Bigg Boss?

I'll be the only person interacting with the 14 participants in the house. They have no interaction with anyone else other than Bigg Boss's voice and I think it's a very important role.

I remember when I was in the Big Brother house we used to wait for the host Davina McCall's voice which was so warm and so nice because by the end of it you're so bored of all the people with you in the house that you just want to hear that one person's voice from outside the house.

She's the one person who conveys the participants' emotions to the outside world and she connects the audience and the housemates, so I think it's a very important role. That's the reason why I agreed to do it because I'm familiar with the entire process. It was easier for me to understand them.

How are you using your Big Brother experience on this show?

I think I'm going to use those experiences to deal with the house mates and that's what will make ‘Bigg Boss 2’ more interesting for me and for the people who are watching it because the people in India do not know what I went though there.

I think only the highlights were shown here so I will be talking about my personal experiences as well. Hence I'll get a chance to share with people what I was feeling when I was in the house and how I can relate those feelings with those in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house. So I think it will be a very interesting show for everyone.

What is it to compete with old buddy Akshay Kumar in the TRP race as he also hosted a reality show, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, on the same channel?

It's not a fair comparison. I don't think Akshay's a competition for me because ours are two very different shows. They have a very different format.

As far as Akshay is concerned I think he's a fantastic host and ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ was very well hosted by him. So please don't compare me with Akshay. I really hope I'm able to do something interesting, something substantial for ‘Bigg Boss’ in my own way.

Have you seen Akshay’s show?
I've seen a few episodes. I have been travelling and Colors being a new channel is not available everywhere at this moment. But ‘Fear Factor’ is a tougher concept and ‘Bigg Boss’ is a much easier concept. But it has its own charm. People want to know what is happening in other people's house and this provides all that masala on television.

Rules of Bigg Boss Season 2

Bigg Boss rules the house inhabited by 14 handpicked celebrities

There are 32 cameras to capture their every move; celebrities do not have any privacy (except in the bathroom)

The house does not have any entertainment options or means of communication.

Celebrities cannot leave the house once the show starts unless they are evicted through public vote.

Each housemate nominates 2 celebrities for eviction to Bigg Boss.

Bigg Boss chooses 2 celebrities with the maximum number of nominations to be put up for public vote.

Viewers vote to throw out the celebrity they hate the most.

At the end of the week, the voting lines close and the celebrity with the maximum votes is evicted from the Bigg Boss’s house.

Day One of Bigg Boss Season 2

On Day One all participants were divided into partners, which they did by using ‘chit’ and the list of partners goes like this: Zulfi Syed and Rahul Mahajan, Sambhavna Seth and Ashutosh Kaushik, Monica Bedi and Ehsaan Qureshi, Ketki Dave and Raja Chaudhari, Sanjay Nirupam and Rakhi Tandon, Payal Rohatgi and Goody, Elina and Deobjit Saha.

Keeping the tradition of athiti devo bhava (the guest is worthy of worship), Bigg Boss gave safe guard to Jade and her lucky partner Payal.

Both of them will not be nominated from eviction this week. In the nomination.

Raja and Sanjay were the ones who were nominated by the participants for eviction and one of them will be out. Raja got 10 votes while Sanjay got five votes for eviction from the participants.
All participants woke up late on Day One, after 9 am, except Ehsaan and Ketki who woke up early. All of them enjoyed egg bhurji (scrambled eggs Indian style) at the breakfast table. Jade sought the introduction of many along with their profession. Sanjay was introduced as a politician, while Ashutosh did not reply back to her.

On Day One Sambhavna, tried teaching her dance style to Jade. In an open discussion Jade did share her experiences of Big Brother, and her point of view probably to better her image in India.

Rahul was considerate to her and volunteered to translate. Rahul was bit talkative and did prod Monica on personal issues like which jail did she go to? So action is on with two nomination already on the eviction list and they have weekly jobs in hand.

Day Two of Bigg Boss Season 2

Day two begins with housemates having insomnia as none of them have slept the entire night as the task was to sleep in total of 100 hours till Wednesday. They all decide to sleep and wake up in some time and then continue with their task.

The first alarm rings but no one wakes up. At the second alarm the first housemate to wake up is Ketki Dave and is shocked to see everybody sleeping.At the third alarm all the housemates wake up.

Ehsaan initially gave cooking tips to Ketki Dave.

Debojit is frustrated that he cannot do his riyaz without his musical instrument.

While Rahul Mahajan cracked jokes and made people laugh, Ashutosh Kaushik and Ehsaan Qureshi gathered all and made Jade Goody play the very Indian sport of kabaddi!

Jade, trying hard to talk in Hindi, couldn’t understand the game’s name and called it ‘cup of tea’, leaving everyone in splits.

Further in the episode all of them are sitting together and Raja tells Aashutosh teasingly to teach Jade Hindi. Ashutosh starts with A for Aloo, B for Bhaloo and further on.

After some time Jade Goody starts crying because she is missing her children. Monica consoles her and tries to calm her down.

Payal looks in the camera and wishes “Happy Birthday” to her mother.

Further in the episode Jade finds out that she is suffering from cancer and then Bigg Boss decides to bid her good bye and wishes her that she recovers well.

British celebrity Jade Goody has left Bigg Boss

British celebrity Jade Goody has left Bigg Boss 2 after she was diagnosed with cervical cancer.

British reality TV star Jade Goody, who came to India to participate in the second season of Indian show “Bigg Boss”, has been detected with cancer and will now leave the series.

Big Brother star Jade Goody is suffering from cervical cancer, it has been revealed. The news was broken to the 27-year-old mother of two while she was appearing in the Indian version of Bigg Brother. After the devastating news was broken to her in the diary room of the show, Goody was in hysterics as she told housemates “I have cancer”.

“She was called into the Diary Room and spoke to her agent and then her consultant in the UK,” the Sun quoted a close friend, as saying. “She just burst into tears, ran out and said to housemates ‘I have cancer’,” the friend added. She was immediately withdrawn from the programme and is flying back home for treatment.

Bigg Boss star Jade Goody is suffering from cervical cancer, it has been revealed.British celebrity Jade Goody has left Bigg Boss 2 after she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Goody, who was supposed to be the surprise element on Bigg Boss 2, broke down because she couldn’t understand and cope with Hindi. Bigg Boss 2 rules include communicating only in Hindi. Although Payal Rohatgi helped her with the language, it became too much for her after a point. Goody was also missing her children.

Shilpa Shetty, the host of Bigg Boss Season2, said, “”It is unbelievable, how life is so unpredictable and finds a way to distract and derail you from your plans. My prayers are with Jade, her family in this hour, when they face one of the biggest tests of their life, in times ahead. I pray she comes out of this, soon and, stronger. Hope that she is going back with happy memories from this country.”

The first episode of Bigg Boss 2 showed Jade making successful attempts to interact and make friends with all the Bigg Boss housemates and show the real her to the world. Being a bubbly individual, she was accepted by the housemates and gelled well with them.
