Tired of wearing spectacles and the related complexes with them,here is some information that may pep you up....

Two decades ago, they were huge and plastic and seriously damaged your playground credibility.

But these days, glasses are almost too cool for school.

A poll has shown that the smaller designer frames on offer these days have made life much easier for a "speccy four eyes".

Forty-three per cent of glasses-wearing pupils say their friends are actively positive about the accessory - and think they make them look clever, trendy and attractive.

Just five per cent of those who wear glasses said they had been bullied over their specs, and seven per cent had been teased.

One in seven children told researchers they liked wearing specs because it made them "look cool".

At first glance, these results do not suggest overwhelming acceptance - but they are a marked improvement on attitudes in the Eighties.

Of the adults surveyed, who would have been at school in that decade, 71 per cent said they had been teased at school for wearing glasses or had witnessed others being called speccy four eyes and the like.

Celebs get their groove on in geeky glasses!

Wearing specs is not so geeky anymore, for the much-despised "plain glass" spectacles have now become a must-have fashion accessory, suggests a new research, which has shown that the demand for the glasses has seen a surge in sales for customers with 20-20 vision.

Julia Roberts is the sexiest bespectacled star, according to a  US magazine poll.

Readers of weekly publication In Touch were asked to vote for their favourite four-eyed star and the PRETTY WOMAN actress beat DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES actress Felicity Huffman for the top spot.

Roberts claimed 40 per cent of the vote, while Huffman came in second with 33 per cent.

ALICIA KEYS was a distant third, ahead of fourth-placed Mischa Barton and COURTNEY LOVE.

Also, the new groups of wearers are being dubbed "suspecs".
A study by YouGov for Vision Express found that almost one in ten 18-24 year-olds had admitted buying them.

The celebs responsible for the revolution are Julia Roberts, Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Kidman and Daniel Radcliffe's portrayal of Harry Potter, the bespectacled boy wizard.

Ashton creates an impression


Some 64 percent of respondents to the YouGov poll said that they felt glasses created a more positive impression today than they did a decade ago.


Demi Moore's young husband Ashton Kutcher goes the hunky and sophisticated route in thick-rimmed specs.

"Not so long ago, glasses were seen primarily as a medical aid rather than a stylish accessory," the Scotsman quoted Bryan Magrath, of Vision Express, as saying.
